Visit the City of Lakes

Minneapolis is known as the "City of Lakes" as 22 of the 10,000 lakes in Minnesota are found here. Even if visiting 22 is not possible, check out the Chain of Lakes, which comprise Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, Cedar Lake, Lake of the Isles and Brownie Lake.

Lake Harriet has a bird sanctuary, beautiful rose gardens and pretty beaches. It also hosts live music shows during summer. Each lake offers exciting activities, including sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, etc. Ice skating is also popular here during the winter season.

Explore the Mill City Museum

A flour mill converted into a museum, the Mill City Museum gives you a glimpse of the industrious history of Minneapolis.
Located along the Mississippi River, this museum gives you an authentic flour mill experience through interactive exhibits. The museum also offers a great view of the entire city.

Wander Around the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

Satisfy the art lover in you with a trip to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Spread around 11 acres, it is home to more than 40 sculptures by notable modern artists.
The sculpture of the Spoonbridge and Cherry is the most popular and also the most photographed sculpture at the park. The sculptures are unique and offer great photographic opportunity too.

Discover Walker Art Center

Located close to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is the Walker Art Center, a museum that exhibits modern and contemporary art.
The museum has 11 exhibits and contains more than 13,000 artifacts including paintings, books, drawings, sculpture, photos, media works, costumes and prints. This art museum organizes exhibitions and programs from time to time.

Have Fun at Mall of America

The largest shopping mall in the USA, the Mall of America, with more than 500 stores and no sales tax on clothes, is a paradise for shopaholics.

The mall also has an indoor aquarium, a theme park, a movie theater, more than 50 restaurants and several entertainment zones. You may also catch celebrities at one of the events regularly hosted at the mall.

Walk Around the Minneapolis Institute of Art

A museum that art enthusiasts would love, the Minneapolis Institute of Art houses around 100,000 artifacts from around the world. Right from ancient to modern artworks, there is nothing that this art museum does not cover.
Egyptian artifacts, Asian art, Native American art and modern art collections are part of it. A day is not enough to see everything.

Experience Beautiful Nature at Minnehaha Park

Apart from lakes, Minneapolis is known for its most amazing national parks, and the Minnehaha Park is the best. The 193-acre park is great for hiking, cycling and picnics.

The highlight of the park is the Minnehaha Falls, a 53-foot waterfall, which looks more spectacular after rainfall. The park also has several sculptures as well as a seafood restaurant.
