Walt Disney World is a huge place. It takes at least 4 to 5 days to visit and enjoy all its attractions, and if you intend to stay that long, then you need to pack a lot of stuff. Many a time, we forget small things like a toothbrush, only to regret it later, realizing its importance. This UStravelia article will help you remember these small, but important things, by providing a printable checklist.
Tip
Instead of buying glow sticks, bracelets, and necklaces in the park, which are used at the evening parade, buy them from a local dollar store before going to Disney World. This will save you a lot of money.
Your flight tickets are booked, Walt Disney World tickets are confirmed, and you have also made reservations at the hotel. Now it’s time to dust off your suitcases and backpacks, and start packing for the trip which you and your family will always treasure. Before you start packing, it is very important to make a proper checklist. This will ensure you don’t forget things, and regret it later. Though many of the items on your list may be available inside Disney World, it is better to carry the stuff from home, even the small things, as these items at Disney World may be available at a higher price.
Must-pack List for Disney World
Walt Disney World is spread across 30,080 acres, and has 24 themed resorts, 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, and several other recreational venues. It takes at least 4 to 5 days to visit all the venues, and enjoy the activities. However, some families take about 10 to 12 days to enjoy each and every place in Disney World. This makes it very important to decide and pack accordingly. Following are some of the important items which you should pack without fail. For a detailed checklist of all the items, click here.
When you are packing clothes and footwear, the first thing you should keep in mind is the season. If you are visiting the place in summer, you have to pack your shorts, tank top, bandana, hats, and cotton T-shirts. In winters, you will need sweaters, jackets, gloves, woolen caps, mufflers, leg warmers, etc. Don’t forget to pack your undergarments. Bring two pairs of swimsuits so that you have a spare one in case you are unable to use the first one (gets soiled, doesn’t dry). Most pools in Disney World have laundry facilities near the pool. So, you can wash your clothes there itself, to reduce the number of outfits you are going to take. Pick clothes that you can paired with multiple apparel. This way you will not have to carry extra clothes, and no one will realize that you are wearing the same clothes. They also have locker where you can keep your stuff and use as and when needed.
Good, comfortable footwear are one of the most essential items for Disney World. It won’t be an exaggeration if I say they are more important than all the other items put together (of course, clothes aside). With such a huge area to cover, you may have to walk quiet a lot, and for that, it is vital that you pack footwear in which you feel comfortable. You can get flip-flops, sneakers, Crocs, boots, uggs, sandals, or anything in which you can walk for hours. Carry at least 3 pairs of socks.
Today, a vacation or trip seems incomplete without pics and posts about all the activities done on the trip. And when the trip or vacation is to Disney World, you can’t but help tell all your friends and family what a wonderful time you had. For that, you simply can’t afford to forget your camera and smartphone. I am sure you must have already decided what all to click, but all this excitement will come to nothing if you are unable to switch on your gadget. As with all gadgets, charging the battery is essential. Do not forget your gadget’s charging cord/s. Also, carry extra memory cards so that you don’t have to hold back while clicking pics for want of enough memory space. Another important accessory that one often forgets are headphones, Bluetooth, USB cord, etc.
You can carry an extra pen drive, you never know it may prove helpful in some way. Remember to pack all the above mentioned accessories beforehand so that you can capture truly memorable moments in your trip with ease.
We usually forget some or the other thing from this list. As these items are among the most important, you should make a list, and ensure that you pack everything on it. Some common, yet essential things to pack are toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving kit, shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, sun tan lotion, body lotion, and cosmetics. As you will be out in the sun for long periods, a sunscreen is a must. Wear a sunscreen of at least 30+ SPF to reduce the chances of sunburn. Reapply every 2 to 3 hours. To beat the heat in the summer, carry wet wipes with you.
Disney World is truly huge, and visited by millions of tourists each year. So, if you are wary about contracting diseases and infections, carry a sanitizer or anti-bacterial gel.
If you have a kid/s or an infant, you may need an extra bag that carries all the essentials of the kid. In case of infants, apart from their clothes and footwear, you will have to carry baby care products, like baby lotion, shampoo, soap, oil, powder, wet wipes, bath mat. Diapers, you simply cannot forget them so that you don’t have to spend extra buying them at Disney World. Carry their infant formula, with sippy cup, milk bottle, baby food spoons and bowls, and pacifiers. Do not forget to carry medicines for the baby.
Get your kid’s favorite small toy, to keep him busy when you will not be able to concentrate on him. Though you can rent strollers and cribs at Disney World for about $15 per day, you can save some money, and choose to carry a folding portable stroller from home.
Apart from the above mentioned things, get wallets and pouches with a lanyard. This will help you to keep your credit/debit cards, cash, passes, tickets, keys, etc., handy and safe. Get Ziploc plastic bags to keep mobile phones and other electronic items, in case you are going for a water ride. Sunglasses will be very helpful to protect your eyes from intense rays. An autograph book and a pen will come in handy, in case you decide to take an autograph from Mickey and Minnie, your kids will just love it. Also, carry an umbrella (if in case it rains), waist belt bag (to keep camera and phones), first aid box (for emergency), and food items (like: snacks, drink mix packets like Tang, etc.). There are water taps very close to every ride, so you need not to worry about carrying water bottles.
