Thanks to President Theodore Roosevelt who declared Florida's Pelican Island NWR (National Wildlife Refuge) as the first wildlife refuge in 1903.

CHINCOTEAGUE NWR (VIRGINIA)

The refuge is a beautiful amalgamation of wildlife & beach. It's a home to many cute wild animals like delmarva fox squirrels, pony horses, snow geeses, a variety of waterfowl and other migrating birds.

OREGON ISLANDS NWR (OREGON)

This place is so pleasing that, it has a wide variety of geological features & diverse marine life. You can spot the sea lion in the southern point of this refuge.

ST. MARKS NWR (FLORIDA)

This an aged refuge in the US. Here, hundreds of reptiles are spotted  along with the alligators. You can visit during springs and spot the Indigo buntings, Yellow-billed cuckoos, and other songbirds - a bird lovers' paradise!

ARANSAS NWR (TEXAS)

This refuge is popular for viewing wildlife & nature trails. The whooping cranes, Kemp's Ridley sea turtles, Reddish egrets, alligators and coyotes and many other animals can be seen here.

MINNESOTA VALLEY NWR (MINNESOTA)

This has stunning scenery & eight different units  that provide resting, nesting, and feeding for many animals, waterfowl, and other migratory birds. The visitor centre is very interesting here.

Sports like boating, snowmobiling, hiking and biking are available here as per the seasons. Wildlife photographers can take joy to capture the nature’s beauty.

RACHEL CARSON NWR (MAINE)

This refuge was built in the name of remarkable biologist Rachel Carson. It houses more than 250 bird species, like piping plovers and flaunts the large salt marshes.

LAGUNA ATASCOSA NWR (TEXAS)

Watch birds & animals like Altamira orioles, green jays and the large ones like the pheasant-sized chachalacas, bobcats, eastern indigo snakes at this beautiful refuge.

QUIVIRA NWR (KANSAS)

This is a vivid place to watch thousands of cranes in the fall and white-fronted geese and even the cute prairie dog.

HORICON NWR (WISCONSIN)

This is the largest & most beautiful cattail wetland in the United States. You won't keep your cameras down after watching the large flocks of beautiful red-headed ducks and other birds.

WICHITA MOUNTAINS NWR (OKLAHOMA)

This was set up to preserve big wild animals like bison and elk. You’ll be amazed to spot the wild beauty in its comfort zone. It has beautiful mountains and you can go hiking on them.

HART MOUNTAIN NWR (OREGON)

Walk towards Hart Mountain and you’ll see pronghorns, Greater sage-grouse, sage thrashers, sparrows and mule deer and many other animals.

ASH MEADOWS NWR (NEVADA)
